Sixth grade students from Brookhurst Elementary School are digging their heels into this year’s Arbor Week celebrations by participating in the City’s annual Arbor Week tree planting on Wednesday, March 10, at 9:00 a.m. The students will be helping to plant five new trees near their school, located at 9821 Catherine Avenue. The actual planting will take place on the south side of Bixby Avenue, just west of Brookhurst Street.

Repeatedly named a “Tree City USA” by the National Arbor Day Foundation over the last 16 years, the City of Garden Grove makes a yearly tree planting during the Arbor Week observance. This year’s Arbor Week observance runs from March 7 through March 14, 2010.

The planting is made possible through the help of Ralph Laudensiayer, a board member from the Central Garden Grove Neighborhood Association, and donations from Living Springs Christian Fellowship, the Malabar Apartments, and the Moose Lodge.
