Girl Power Drives Spirit of Annual Women’s Event

Celebrating International Women’s Day along with the idea of girls just wanting to have fun, is Garden Grove’s 3rd annual ‘Girl’s Day Out’ Luncheon and Fashion Show. The event takes place on Saturday, March 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the Garden Grove Community Meeting Center, at 11300 Stanford Avenue.

The event, designed for women and girls 13 years and older, features a contemporary-wear fashion show compliments of Fashion Bug store, recognized guest speakers, self-improvement seminars, vendor fair, and a raffle drawing for prizes.

Mistress of ceremonies for the event is KTLA Channel 5 News traffic anchor Ginger Chan. The keynote speaker is Cathy Standiford, President of Soroptimist International of the Americas.

Seminars topics include “Maintaining Healthy Relationships with Friends, Spouses, and Family,” as well as “Personal Safety for Women.” Director of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Janet Leasure will present a seminar entitled, “New Year, New You.”
Vendors participating in the event include Luv 2 Lounge (40’s style pajamas and loungewear), Body Magic (body shapers and garments), Miche Bags, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Tickets are $15 per person. Space is limited. Reservations for the event must be made by Monday, March 1, 2010 by calling the Community Services Department at (714) 741-5200, in person at Garden Grove City Hall Recreation Counter at 11222 Acacia Parkway.
