Volunteer Judges Needed To Discover Garden Grove’s Finest Homes

ggp_trophy_0.jpgFebruary 25, 2010

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes in Garden Grove, just ask a Garden Grove Pride Judge. The 37th annual Garden Grove Pride Awards, which recognizes the finest-looking homes in the city, is seeking volunteer judges. Those interested are asked to attend an orientation meeting on Tuesday, March 9, at 5:30 p.m., at the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Avenue. Judges do not have to be Garden Grove residents.

The home beautification program volunteers will select one of the city’s 17 zones to review and, with a teammate, choose the top 23 best-kept homes, including the Home of the Year. Each zone is comprised of approximately 2,500 single-family homes, and judging averages about nine hours over a three-week period. Judges work in pairs and are encouraged to set a comfortable pace.

The winning homeowners and judges will be honored at the Garden Grove Pride Awards Reception on Monday, May 3, 2010, hosted by Mayor Bill Dalton and Garden Grove City Council. The 17 zone winners are also eligible to participate in an on-line voting contest for the title of Garden Grove’s “Best Home and Garden.”

To serve as a volunteer judge and R.S.V.P. for the orientation, please call the Office of Community Relations at (714) 741-5280 or sign up on-line via the Garden Grove Pride Volunteer link.
